Over 20,000 Bitcoin ATMs installed in one year – – Crypto News
The number of cryptocurrency ATMs around the world has grown exponentially in 2021, with over 20,000 new installations since last December. That is more than the sum of all the crypto ATMs that have been operational in the past seven years.
Almost 34,000 crypto ATMs available worldwide
ATM locations, which offer users options to buy and exchange cryptocurrencies for fiat money, are growing at an unprecedented pace. Data compiled by Coin ATM Radar shows their numbers nearing 34,000 by the end of 2021.
In a year the crypto market was seen All time highs, over 20,000 new devices have appeared worldwide. Crypto ATMs can be found in almost every corner of the planet, but their prevalence is still fairly concentrated. Around 30,000 of all BATMs (Bitcoin ATMs), around 90% of the gross value, run in the US. The northern neighbor Canada is by far in second place with a little more than 2,200 machines.
Bitcoin friendly El Salvador is already at the top with its 205 ATMs, overtaking EU countries like Spain with fewer than 200 and Austria with its 142. On December 29th, all of Europe has only 1,384 cryptocurrency ATMs, which is behind the most important markets in North America.
A number of companies are now making ATMs that support cryptocurrencies. The biggest players on the market are Genesis Coin with almost 14,000 devices, General Bytes with more than 7,500 and Bitaccess with almost 5,000. Coinsource and Bitstop complete the top 5 with less than 2,000 each.
At least 6,000 companies operate crypto ATMs in different parts of the world, with the top 10 operators operating 70% of them. The largest companies in the industry are Bitcoin depot, which holds a fifth of the market with over 6,600 machines, followed by Coincloud (over 4,600) and Coinflip (almost 3,500).
The ATMs support various cryptocurrencies and are either one-way or two-way devices. The latter offers users the opportunity not only to buy their digital coins, but also to sell them. Most BATMs offer the option to buy Bitcoin (BTC) and many offer other important coins like bitcoin cash (BCH), Ether (ETH) and Litecoin (LTC).
