Binance trains Ukrainian cyber police and security service – exchanges bitcoin messages
Crypto exchange Binance has organized training for law enforcement officials in Ukraine. The lead coin trading platform has been involved in dozens of similar initiatives in a number of countries over the past year.
Binance offers crypto training courses for security officers in Ukraine
The world’s largest digital asset exchange, Binance, has closed Ukrainian law enforcement agencies and regulators in the form of online seminars for its employees cryptocurrencies and Blockchain– Technologies trained.
A representative of the crypto trading platform briefed attendees on Binance’s anti-money laundering policy, crypto news outlet Forklog reported. Methods developed by the exchange to detect and prevent fraud were also presented.
Employees from the Ukraine Cyber Police, the Cybercrime Countermeasures Unit of the National Police of Ukraine (NPU), the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) and the Asset Recovery and Management Agency (ARMA) attended the courses.
Ukraine, which is waging a bitter war with Russia, is responding to various challenges on a daily basis, noted Kiril Khomyakov, Binance’s general manager for Ukraine and Central Europe. “These include financial crimes that threaten the stability and security of the country’s financial ecosystem. Our goal is to join efforts to prevent cybercrime and especially the financing of terrorism,” he added.
Ukrainian law enforcement agencies are involved in operations targeting crypto-related crime. In November, cyber police cracked down on a fraud scheme that was raking in €200 million a year by luring investors through call centers across Europe. The entity has in the past advocated for the legalization of cryptocurrencies in the country and began accepting crypto donations in March of last year.
The Eastern European nation is at the forefront of crypto adoption and, in collaboration with its participants, has taken steps to regulate the market. Since November, ARMA has been sharing wallet ownership information with major crypto trading platforms as part of criminal cases.
Binance’s investigation team has hosted and participated in over 30 cybercrime and financial crime workshops over the past year, the report said. These were attended by representatives of law enforcement agencies from different nations.
The exchange is also involved in educational projects in the region. In February, she agreed to help Georgia develop its crypto sector through education and crypto-focused events. In December, Binance launched a blockchain education program in Kazakhstan and bot to support Azerbaijan’s regulatory efforts.
