Bitget doubles global workforce despite crypto winter

[PRESS RELEASE – Please Read Disclaimer]

The aim is to increase the number of employees to 1,000 by the end of 2022

Singapore, June 21, 2022 – Bitget, the leading global trading platform for digital assets, is set to double its workforce to reach 1,000 employees in the next six months despite the current market downturn. Since the beginning of the second quarter of 2022, the entire crypto market has been in a downtrend, which has brought many ongoing projects and initiatives in this area to a halt. Amid market volatility, negative market sentiments also led to downsizing at various global crypto operators, spurred by rapidly changing economic conditions and resource overhiring and misplacement.

For Bitget, the leading global futures exchange has experienced tremendous growth, generating strong and recurring cash flow despite uncertain market conditions. Such market sentiments haven’t stopped the platform from expanding its offerings and ensuring that the fast-growing needs of users are met. As of early 2021, Bitget had a small team of 150 employees and has since tripled in size by mid-2022. To accommodate the burgeoning growth, Bitget will accelerate its hiring plan to pave the way for the new developments to come.

Bitget Managing Director Gracy Chen commented: “Earlier this year, we announced that our derivatives trading volume would increase in March 2022 all-time high reached $8.69 billion. Over the past 12 months, our trading volume has grown more than 10-fold, unlocked a notable achievement, and our user base has also grown significantly to two million users worldwide.”

She added: “Of course we were also looking to expand our team to meet rapidly expanding market demands, but we decided to take a more cautious approach from the start. By scheduling frequent meetings with our global and regional teams to understand where resources are needed, we have been able to execute strategic hiring in a systematic and effective manner. As we continue to weather the crypto winter, this will be a perfect opportunity for us to attract talent in the market and strengthen our foundation, prioritize growth and be prepared to welcome the next round of crypto adoption when the market is regaining strength.”

Going forward, Bitget intends to expand its global workforce to 1,000, representing approximately 500 new hires by the end of the year, mainly in product development and customer service.
