Centrifuge, a platform that enables real assets to be connected using DeFi protocols, has announced a collaboration with to launch their Real World Assets Market.
Aave and Centrifuge launch real-world assets market
Centrifuge announced in a Medium post Tuesday morning that its Real World Assets (RWA) Market on Aave had officially launched. These real asset markets allow investors to generate returns on real assets that are not correlated to crypto assets.
The Aave protocol allows investors to borrow tokens against collateral they have deposited, with interest rates fluctuating based on supply and demand. Owners of real assets can create pools of assets (e.g., a real estate pool) that other investors could use to buy tokens by adding stablecoins to the pools. These stored stablecoins can then be borrowed against the real assets.
Centrifuge’s RWA market also includes non-crypto assets such as tokenized real estate bridge loans and freight and forwarding invoices.
Aave founder Stani Kulechov said:
“The RWA market is an urgently needed component not only for protocols like Aave, but for DeFi as a whole. It is part of the Aave Companies vision to break down barriers to entry and make DeFi accessible to all, and we are excited to make this happen by securing real assets made possible by Centrifuge. “
This is not the first time that Centrifuge supports the bridging of real assets into the DeFi sphere. It announced the introduction of real-world assets as security for makers in April. The Centrifuge platform currently has a total blocked value of over 50 million (based on the Maker Protocol Stablecoin) with a currently estimated return of 24% annually.
Aave has often helped expand the options for DeFi users. Earlier this month, another DeFi batch launched,, Boosted Pools with Aave, potentially allowing liquidity providers to generate higher returns.
