Elon Musk, der reichste Mann der Welt und CEO des Elektroautoherstellers Tesla, hat kürzlich seine mangelnde Unterstützung für die laufende Kampagne für das Metaverse- und Web3-Ökosystem geäußert.
In a recent interview with Babylon Bee, Musk found that Web3 and Metaverse trends are so prevalent, but he doesn’t stick to the idea.
“I don’t know if I’m going to take this Metaverse stuff out of the box, even though people talk to me about it a lot… I can’t see a compelling Metaverse situation right now, or Web 3 sounds more like marketing than reality. I do not understand and maybe I will, but I do not understand yet. ”- He said.
The Tesla and SpaceX boss pointed out that it is difficult for him to imagine a future in which people would have to leave the physical world to live in a virtual one.
“I don’t see anyone who straps a bloody screen in front of their face all day and never wants to leave it.”
He pointed to the irony of the advice he received during his childhood compared to the concept of the metaverse.
“It’s weird that growing up I felt like I wasn’t sitting near the TV, it would ruin your eyesight. Now you have the television literally in front of your face. I am like what Is that good for you?”
Neuralink better than Metaverse
While revealing his lack of support for the Metaverse and Web3, Musk opined that his neurotech company Neuralink will provide a better ecosystem for people to fully immerse themselves in virtual reality.
Neuralink mainly focuses on the development of brain implants, which are used in humans to restore and improve various physical abilities with the help of computers.
“In the long run, a sophisticated Neuralink could put you completely in virtual reality. I think we are far from disappearing into the Metaverse, that just sounds kind of like a buzzword. ”- said Musk.
Web3 is another “central” unit
His testimony comes just a day after former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey stated that Web3 would not escape the influence of venture capitalists and their limited partners.
He found that the technology is just another “central unit with a different label”. The tweet sparked a massive debate in which Elon Musk joined in and jokingly asked, “Has anyone seen Web3? I can not find it.”
