Jack Dorsey’s Block releases UI teaser and seeks partners for highly anticipated self-custody Bitcoin wallet

A new blog post from Jack Dorsey’s Block details the progress being made on the BitcoinWallet be made for the preservation that the company is working on.

Jack Dorsey’s Block has updated the bitcoin community on the development of its self-custodial bitcoin wallet.

According to a blog post, the goal is to “build a self-custodial bitcoin wallet that aims to give the next 100 million people the ability to truly own and manage their money with bitcoin.” First introduced in 2022, the product principles demonstrate Block’s desire to create a wallet that allows users to truly own and manage bitcoin “in a way that makes self-custody more accessible than ever.”

Partners will apparently play an important role in building the self-custody wallet. “Through global and local partnerships with exchanges and on/off ramp partners, we offer customers ways to access a frictionless, transparent buying and selling experience,” the blog post reads, “ultimately helping them navigate between fiat – and to navigate bitcoin financial systems wherever they are in the world.”

The post detailed Block’s criteria for working with on- and offramp companies, highlighting global and regional reach and depth, product experience, pricing transparency, customer engagement, and trust and transparency.

Customer experience is also repeated. According to an image shared in the blog post, users appear to be able to choose between different partners with transparent pricing, are prompted to log in or continue as a guest, and then seamlessly receive their bitcoins in the self-custodial wallet.

In terms of effectively increasing the use of Bitcoin as a payment method, the post states, “This could look like point-of-sale partnerships with vendor and merchant services, payroll partnerships, and many other types of partnerships.”

The blog post ends with a call for feedback, specifically asking for considerations as to whether there are any criteria that should be adjusted or if there are specific companies that Block should consider partnering with.
