NFL quarterback Mac Jones gives his Patriot teammates Bitcoin for Christmas

Zu Weihnachten schenkte der American-Football-Rookie-Quarterback Michael McCorkle „Mac“ Jones seinen Teamkollegen Bitcoin (BTC), als er am Heiligabend die Rolle des Weihnachtsmanns spielte.

Bitcoin as a Christmas present

Although the amount he shared was not disclosed, Jones gifted twelve of his teammates with bitcoin, making them bitcoiners for the first time. The list includes Ted Karras, David Andrews, Trent Brown, Yodny Cajuste, Yasir Durant, James Ferentz, Justin Herron, Shaq Mason, Mike Onwenu, Alex Redmond, Will Sherman, and Isaiah Wynn.

The 23-year-old, who plays for the New England Patriots in the National Football League (NFL), said he had researched Bitcoin for some time and decided to give his teammates some for Christmas.

Jones said he used bitcoin service provider Swan Private to distribute coins with the help of Bitcoin Magazine.

“I’ve been studying Bitcoin for a while. This year I just knew I had to give my teammates some bitcoin … So I reached out to Bitcoin Magazine for help on how to Bitcoin can give away, ”said the rookie quarterback for the Patriots.

Commenting on the development, Cory Klippsten, CEO of Swan Bitcoin:

“Our mission at Swan is to create 10 million new bitcoins, not just people who own bitcoin, but people who understand how important it is. That is why we focus so much on education and first class service. Our concierge team at Swan Private is very excited to be working with Mac and his team on their Bitcoin journey. “

Crypto marries sports

As Bitcoin continues to become mainstream, it is gaining increasing acceptance among sports stars and professionals.

Mac Jones isn’t the first NFL player or athlete to take an interest in Bitcoin. In early November, Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers announced that he would like to receive part of his salary in bitcoin by partnering with Cash App.

That same month, Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. took a similar move and signed a partnership agreement with Cash App that would allow him to receive his entire paycheck in BTC.
