Over 20,000 Ukrainians sign up for a free course on crypto, official says –
Crypto courses organized for Ukrainians have started on a government-run portal, a minister said. More than 20,000 people have signed up for the education course in the war-torn country, which aims to become “the best crypto jurisdiction.”
Thousands of Ukrainians are learning about BitcoinMining, and Smart Contracts
The Ukrainian “Дія. The portal Цифрова освіта (Diia Digital Education) has started the first classes of a course designed to improve the “cryptoliteracy” of Ukrainian citizens, the country’s Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov announced.
The government official, quoted by crypto news outlet Forklog, stressed that the course could become “the largest in the history of virtual asset development in Ukraine.” Over 20,000 applicants have already registered, he added.
The educational program, completely free of charge for the participants, includes 100 hours of theory and practice, during which they learn about the history of money and the development of Bitcoin.
Other subjects are Ethereum and smart contracts, mining and consensus algorithms, cold and hot wallets, and cryptocurrency trading opportunities and threats, the report details.
The initiative stems from a partnership between the Ministry of Digital, Ukraine-based crypto exchange Whitebit, the Filecoin Foundation and Atlantis World, a Metaverse social platform. It was announced in December when Fedorov tweeted that the “goal is to make Ukrainians a crypto advanced nation.”
The Ukrainian parliament, the Verkhovna Rada, passed a law “On Virtual Assets” in mid-February last year. Despite the invasion of Russia that began at the end of the month, the government has continued efforts to regulate and develop the crypto market.
Speaking to journalists during the World Economic Forum in Davos in January, Fedorov confirmed Kiev’s “very ambitious plan” to make Ukraine the “most digitized country” and the “best crypto jurisdiction in the world” over the next two years. Ukraine is already a regional leader in terms of crypto adoption.
The nation under attack has also relied on donations in a range of coins to raise funds for its defense and relief efforts. Recent reports of BlockchainAnalytics firms Elliptic and Chainalysis showed that the country amassed over $212 million in crypto during the war, with nearly $70 million of it in wallets provided by its government.
