ProShares files with the SEC to introduce a Metaverse ETF

  • According to a recent filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the exchange-traded fund is called The ProShares Metaverse Theme ETF.
  • Assuming that the US financial regulators give the green light to the product, it is based on the SOMETAV index. It consists of companies that offer services related to the Metaverse or use this type of technology.
  • Prominent examples of such companies are tech giant Apple, GPU maker Nvidia, and leading social platform Meta (formerly known as Facebook).
  • ProShares is the newest company trying to get into the emerging Metaverse space. Not long ago, Grayscale Investments, the world’s largest digital asset management company, predicted that the industry would soon be valued at over $ 1 trillion.
  • Additionally, Haim Israel – a strategist at Bank of America – believes the Metaverse could take the cryptocurrency industry to another level. He added that this could lead to digital assets being used extensively for financial transactions.
  • Todd Rosenbluth – Director of ETF and Mutual Fund Research at CFRA – also expects a further development of the Metaverse universe:
  • “I don’t know if the Metaverse theme has legs, but investors believe it. Given the success of the META ETF, we are likely to bring more products to market that offer a unique twist on this long-term theme. ”
  • The most significant success of ProShares this year is the launch of the first futures Bitcoin strategy ETF in the US. At the end of October, the financial product was traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker BITO.
