Renowned fashion brand Gucci dives into crypto, accepting payments for digital assets at select US stores: report

Renowned fashion brand Gucci is venturing into the world of digital assets with the announcement that the company will soon start accepting crypto payments at select stores across the US.
According to a new report from Vogue Business, the famous luxury line will start accepting cryptocurrency payments starting in late May, with plans to expand the acceptance program to all of its North American stores sometime by summer.

Gucci will accept payments in 12 digital assets, including the leading crypto asset market capitalization Bitcoin (BTC)the leading smart contract platform Ethereum (ETH)dog-themed meme tokens Dogecoin (DOGE) and Shiba Inu (SHIB)BTC alternative Litecoin (LTC) and BTC spin-off Bitcoin Cash (BCH).

Other accepted virtual assets include the ETH-bridged version of BTC, Wrapped Bitcoin (WBTC) and five unnamed dollar-pegged stablecoins.

Customers who want to pay in-store with crypto assets can do so digitally, via a link received via email or by scanning a QR code, according to the report. The first stores listed in the crypto acceptance pilot program are located in Los Angeles, New York, Las Vegas, Miami and Atlanta.

As Marco Bizzarri, President and Chief Executive Officer of Gucci said,

“Gucci is always striving to embrace new technologies where they can offer our customers an enhanced experience.

Now that we are able cryptocurrencies into our payment system, it is a natural progression for those customers who would like to have this option available to them.”
