Roller coaster ride continues – Bitcoin has fallen below $ 47,000 as global markets turn deep red

Bitcoin fell below $ 47,000

The past few days have been quite volatile for Bitcoin. He tried $ 50,000 on December 12 when the bears rose and pushed him hard south. As a result, BTC plunged below $ 46,000 just a day later.

It failed to recover much in value until the US Federal Reserve said it would leave interest rates unchanged. This, as reported yesterday, resulted in an immediate price spike from $ 46,500 to $ 49,500.

In the following hours, however, the mostly negative mood finally returned. BTC couldn’t go any further and began to decline in value, culminating in a further drop below $ 47,000 hours ago.

So far, Bitcoin has bounced back above this level, but it’s still down more than 3% and its Market capitalization is under $ 900 billion.

BTC’s retracement targets similar movements in global equity markets. The three largest US stock indices – the S&P 500, Dow Jones and NASDAQ – all closed yesterday in the red, and their futures contracts also lost some of their traction.

Also Altcoins Retrace

The alternative coins also enjoyed impressive runs yesterday. Today, however, most of them are deeply in the red. Ethereum eventually traded above $ 4,000, but a steep drop since then has made it the second largest Cryptocurrency drifted well below that line.

Polkadot has lost the most of the larger cap alts, down 6%. Still Binance Coin, Solana, Cardano, Ripple, Dogecoin, Shiba Inu and Matic have fallen in the past 24 hours.

Further losses are of Elrond (-16%), XDC Network (-13%), Voyager Token (-10%), NEAR Protocol (-10%), Kadena (-8%) and others.

The cryptocurrency’s market cap has dropped nearly $ 100 billion to below $ 2.2 trillion.
