Satoshi Nakamoto’s latest unfinished project inspires this new online marketplace disruptor in the crypto space

A fork from Bitcoin, known as Particl, has announced the completion of an eBay-style marketplace integrated into its wallet. The marketplace has been smart Blockchain-Contracts created and based on an original concept first proposed by Satoshi Nakamoto.

The latest version of Particl creates a trusted, unstoppable marketplace where buyers and sellers can trade goods without the risk of being scammed. It offers toll-free and encrypted chat messages between buyers and sellers, as well as ring signatures and blending for greater transaction privacy than Monero to offer.

Bitcoin’s creator disappeared in 2011 after being invited to a meeting with the CIA. His last email said, “I’ve moved on to other things.” Before he disappeared, Satoshi was working on a Bitcoin-integrated marketplace. Now a working version of this technology has been secretly released by an anonymous development team. Satoshi’s original Bitcoin source code contained an unfinished marketplace on line 69 of the header file. “I was trying to implement an eBay-style marketplace built into the client,” he said in a 2011 email to Mike Hearn.

During the Covid pandemic, sales of many essential items on traditional platforms such as Amazon and eBay have been restricted due to price gouging. As a result, the sellers took advantage of Particl’s decentralized governance system, which had no such selling restrictions bot. Items such as thousands of PPE units, hand sanitizer and Covid tests have appeared on the platform. Items such as full-face gas masks and protective gear were listed during Hong Kong student protests. The first Tesla car was even put up for sale long before Elon Musk became interested in crypto.

The Particl marketplace currently only allows users to pay in PART, its local currency. However, project developers are working on a mechanism to support direct payments in Monero, PIVX, FIRO, Dash, USDT, Litecoin and Bitcoin later this year. It is planned to make payments in almost everyone afterwards cryptocurrency allow, making Particl a truly crypto-agnostic marketplace.
